Glenlossie Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Aged 14 Years

This Single Malt Scotch Whisky was distilled and filled into a recharred oak hogshead at glenlossie distillery in Speyside in 2009 and bottled at 53.4% after spending a extended maturation in a barrel which previously held the highly-prized Italian picolit wine. This dessert wine is produced in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region in the North East of Italy, from a low yielding but richly aromatic sweet white grape crop.

The wine has seasoned the oak to deliver a ‘finish’ of fruit salad, yellow Golden Delicious apples, dunnage warehouse, buttery brioche, dandelion and burdock, waxy citrus peel, damp forest floor and spicy, toasted oak.

Only 288 bottles produced from one single cask no. 12035.

The Distillate
Distillery: Glenlossie
Region: Speyside
Style: Lightness is key, with hints of green herbs, cut grass and an oily character. A carefully selected, delicately sweet wine finish is favoured.

Primary Maturation
Re-charred Hogshead/American Oak
Re-charring the cask breaks down the structure of the oak, allowing a deeper penetration of the spirit into the wood, intensifying flavour and mouthfeel of the mature distillate.

Secondary ageing/finish
Picolit
Region: North-East Italy (Friuli-Venezia Giulia)
Type: Dessert wine
Style: Delicately sweet and quite similar to Sauternesripe peach, citrus peels, pears, apricots, floral honey.
